Arrests at Blackpool and PNE derby

TWO men were arrested ahead of this weekened's Lancashire derby at Deepdale.

A Blackpool fan and a Preston supporter were arrested for offences before the lunchtime clash.

One was arrested for being drunk and disorderly while the other was arrested for a public disorder offence.

Thousands of Blackpool fans descended on the city for the crucial match, which ended in victory for the Seasiders.

Both the men were arrested outside Deepdale before kick-off.

Hundreds of away supporters were in fine voice outside The Assembly pub on Lune Street a few hours before the game.

Despite a massive police presence there was no trouble between the two sets of fans.

Seasiders fans were escorted to the ground an hour before the second derby of the season.

A spokesman for Lancashire police said the operation for getting away fans to and from the train and bus stations passed off smoothly apart from the two arrests.
