Appeal launched in hunt for out-of-town raiders

POLICE were today hunting raiders who targeted homes in Lytham.

Thieves stole personal items after break-ins at two separate properties on Ballam Road.

Detectives said both homes were broken into at around 9.15pm on Saturday, but they were keeping an open mind as to whether the break-ins were committed by the same people.

Det Con John Fishwick, of St Annes Police, said: “It’s possible both were committed by the same offenders, but there’s nothing to link them so it could be just a coincidence.

“We’re keeping an open mind as to whether they are local or coming into the area, but are seeking assistance from the public to try to identify those responsible.”

In both cases, the raiders gained access to the homes through the rear of the property.

Officers said they wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around Ballam Road, either on the night in question or in the weeks leading up to the attacks.

Insp Sue Swift added: “We believe those responsible may have been coming into the area from Manchester or Liverpool and are especially looking for people who may have seen suspicious vehicles in the area.

“We want people to follow basic security measures to ensure their property remains safe.”
