999 line up and running in resort

editorial image

BLACKPOOL’S 999 emergency line is back in service after a morning of problems.

Police reported at around 10.30am the vital emergency number was out of use in the resort because of a BT problem.

The issue meant callers attempting to access the police, fire and ambulance services in an emergency were unable to get through.

Callers were being urged to contact the police’s non-emergency 101 number for urgent calls while the line was down.

The line was down for around three hours, but police have now confirmed it is working again.
