Lifeboat crews scrambled
Blackpool's lifeboat was scrambled when a rubber dinghy was spotted floating near South Pier.
Two boats were launched to search for the small craft.
Volunteers were stood down after around half an hour when it emerged the shout was a false alarm.
Lifeboat crews were put on alert for a second time at around 7pm when two people were reported in trouble in the water near North Pier.
They were helped out by beach patrol and no lifeboat launch was necessary.
