FYLDE Coast residents with dementia can now get extra help.
Blackpool Advocacy has been awarded a three-year contract to provide a dementia adviser service – offering information, advice and support to help people understand and manage their illness.
Claire Powell, support services manager, said: “We’ve been supporting people with dementia through our friendship and support network for the past two years, providing opportunities to meet, support each other and have fun participating in activities and outings.
“The message we hear is many people with dementia feel alone, isolated and uncertain about their illness and often aren’t aware of services available to them. The dementia adviser service fills this gap.”
A celebration launch will be held Wednesday, 11.30am, at the Red Lion, Devonshire Road, Bispham, including a guest speaker, buffet and Layton Primary School’s Children’s Choir.
