St Annes carnival organisers have expressed their delight at the public response after a last-minute appeal for help with marshalling at the event.
With just 48 hours to go to the Carnival, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, parade co-ordinator David Shuttleworth found himself with just nine volunteers.
“We need a minimum of 22 so it was rather concerning,” said David, who has organised the parade for nine years. “But we put an appeal out of Facebook and the response was excellent. We are delighted to be up to the required numbers now and looking forward to a great weekend.”
The parade through town starts from Clifton Drive North at 10.30am tomorrow (Saturday) and the fun continues in Ashton Gardens on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
