Knight’s TV bid for love

Martin Marlow pulled out all the stops to be the perfect Prince Charming on upcoming dating show My Little Princess

Martin Marlow pulled out all the stops to be the perfect Prince Charming on upcoming dating show My Little Princess

A KNIGHT in shining armour is hoping to capture the heart of the girl of his dreams on a new dating show.

Cupid will be joined by wizards, warlocks and dwarves to help Blackpool lad Martin Marlow find love on E4’s My Little Princess.

The 27-year-old is one of eight ‘princes’ vying for the affection of a ‘princess’ by impressing her father in a magical kingdom for the show.

Martin, of College Gate, Cleveleys, said it was surreal to take part in tasks and be quizzed by strangers to win a date with an unknown princess.

He said: “It was great fun. You’re doing all these tasks but you never see the girl you could date.

“But you start to alter your tactics anyway because you still want to win.

“It gets to the point you’ll do things just to win a chocolate biscuit, it was so surreal.”

Though he’s never been a fan of dating shows, after three years of the single life Martin decided to see if he could find out just why he’d been unlucky in love.

He added: “I’d not really been on a date in ages and I thought it’d be fun.”

Despite the amusing nature of tasks, Martin, who works in advertising, said it took some gall to take part in assault courses, human catapults and a lie detector test.

His favourite task saw the wannabe singer take part in a duel, battling another contestant in a sing-off, with his own version of Bonnie Tyler’s, Total Eclipse Of The Heart.

And the show certainly had some effect, with Martin saying he’s been much luckier in love since filming at the end of last year.

He said: “You learn a lot about yourself on a show like that. It’s definitely changed my approach, so there’s been a lot more success since!”

n My Little Princess starts on E4 at the end of the month.
