One of Blackpool’s most high profile bars has had a sprinkling of glitter to give it a makeover.

Nellie Deans on the Promenade, a major cornerstone in the night time economy of the resort, has been given a revamp by its owners Daniel Thwaites.

The karaoke bar recently celebrated its reopening following a major £45,000 refurbishment, financed by the Northern brewer which has its base in Blackburn.

Under the management of new tenant, Amanda Calvert, the past 14 months have seen the local entertainment hotspot ascend to new heights with a packed programme of events and live music acts.

The bar is an established party venue and regularly attracts revellers from across Blackpool, looking to belt out floor fillers in the style of their favourite pop star.

Amanda, said: “People come to Nellie Deans for something different and a night out like no other in Blackpool!

“We’re very proud of the bar and our customers really love it, so we weren’t looking to make any major changes.

“The refurbishment has really added a bit of sparkle back into the place.

“We couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out.”

To celebrate the refurbishment, which included new interior fittings and furnishings and a revamp of the old façade and signage, the pub reopened with a bang.

Relaunch night was kicked off in true sing along style with karaoke performances from Nellie Deans staff and regulars.

Amanda continued: “Since we reopened the response from customers has been fantastic.

“We’re really excited about building the business even further and adding more nights and events to the calendar.

“With the support of Thwaites we’ve been able to give the bar a new lease of life and build on its great legacy. Here’s to a successful 2015!”

As well as the usual pub tipples, the bar also caters for ale lovers, providing a range of Thwaites’ beers, including session beer and ‘Northern Smoothie’, Thwaites Smooth.

Bar snacks and popular food favourites, such as burgers and chips, will also be introduced to the new look pub, over the coming months.

Andrew Buchannan, director of pub operations, commented: “Amanda knows what Nellie Deans needs in order to be a resounding success. I’ve no doubt the bar will continue to be extremely popular following the reopening. Nellie Deans is a lively pub with a unique offering.”
