Schoolchildren across the Fylde coast will be able to enjoy outdoor activities in style following the opening of a new £3m education centre.

Tower Wood, Lancashire County Council’s outdoor
education centre on the shores of Lake Windermere, was officially opened earlier this week.

LCC chairman Kevin Ellard said: “I’m extremely proud the accommodation will enable children and young people with disabilities to stay here in comfort, bringing their families if they wish, and to take part in challenging and exciting activities on equal terms with other groups.”

Tower Wood is used by schools in the county for water-based activities such as sailing, canoeing and kayaking, as well as rock climbing, mountaineering, caving and mountain-biking.
