A Blackpool heritage campaigner has been appointed to a national role.
Joan Humble, chairman of Blackpool Civic Trust, has been elected as chairman of Civic Voice, the national charity that represents and campaigns for local civic trusts in England.
She was appointed at the Civic Voice Convention held recently in Chester.
Mrs Humble, who is a former MP for Blackpool and Fleetwood, said: “It is a huge honour for me to become chair of Civic Voice.
“As a member of the board for over two years, I have spoken at meetings in the House of Commons and visited many civic trusts and societies around the country.
“I look forward to playing a bigger role in Civic Voice, while continuing as chair of Blackpool Civic Trust and speaking up for our local community.”
