Blackpool FC legend Jimmy Armfield helped launch a county-wide sporting initiative.
He joined Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw at the launch of the Challenge through Sport programme.
Challenge through Sport Initiative (CSI) is a scheme to encourage more active and healthier lifestyles for adults in drug and alcohol recovery by getting involved in regular sport and physical activity.
The launch comes after the scheme received a £500,000 boost from National Lottery funding from Sport England.
Clive Grunshaw, Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire, said: “The Challenge through Sport Initiative has built on pilots in Fleetwood, Hyndburn, Lancaster and Leyland and over the coming years will cover the whole of the county.
“I look forward to seeing positive results from this initiative, which I hope will provide long term health and wellbeing benefits to those who take part in the activities.”
The project is supported across the county by three support workers.
One, Paul Reilly, said: “I’d like to see the project grow and grow. Hopefully i it will be all over the country.”
