An inquest is due to begin this morning, after a 15-year-old boy was found dead at his home on New Year’s Day.
Shannon Brooks was discovered by his mother after being at a party just hours earlier, on January 1 this year.
The youngster, a former Collegiate High School pupil, of Dawlish Avenue, Grange Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His mother, Kerrie Taylor, had told The Gazette how her “strong, brave” son had been a fighter, undergoing regular dialysis treatment for a serious kidney condition.
The mother-of-four told The Gazette: “He was a very strong character, even though he was very, very poorly.
“He had a real zest for life.”
Lancashire Police said at the time it was treating the death as “unexplained”, and a post mortem examination proved inconclusive
The hearing will be held at Blackpool Coroner’s Court at Blackpool Town Hall at 10am today.
