These youngsters were on the hunt for beasties and bugs in the park for Love Your Parks Week.

A special event was held at Hawthorne Park to give children and young teens chance to get out in the fresh air, explore the park and find out about its wildlife.

Wyre park ranger Duncan Byrne and a volunteer were joined by 26 youngsters and their parents.

The children were set tasks to find various items in the park – for example, heart-shaped object, or objects which began with a particular letter or were a certain colour.

They also found out about moths and bats, with a game which involved pretending to be the creatures, before going off to explore the park, looking for and catching bugs and mini-beasties.
