DETECTIVES investigating an accusation of sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl in St Annes have established the attack did not take place.
The girl had told police she was walking along St David’s Road South between 11.45am and 12.30pm BST on Thursday when she was attacked.
It was claimed a man dragged her into a doorway and assaulted her.
The scene around where the alleged attack happened was cordoned off and detectives began to interview local people.
However, a Lancashire Police spokesman yesterday said the attack had not taken place and no further action would be taken.
