Do you fancy being lord of the Manor for just £1?
The spare change in your pocket could land you a whole new career as a Blackpool Promenade hotel goes under the hammer.
The Manor Hotel on Queen’s Promenade, North Shore, is about to be auctioned off, but for a quick sale owners have decided to put no reserve on the property.
This means on auction day, if nobody bids more than £1 for the 28 bedroom property, that is the price it will be sold for.
The hotel went on sale for almost £600,000 in 2009, but no buyer could be found.
With an annual turnover estimated at £200,000, a real bargain is up for grabs according to Nick Green from Edward Mellor’s Auctioneers.
He said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to get a seafront hotel at a knock down price.
“The owners owns this hotel outright but is really keen to move on is prepared to take a gamble on having no reserve.
“To sell in this manner is the most exciting way to auction a property and it opens the market up to everybody.
“In theory it could sell for just a pound.”
The hotel is close to North shore Golf Club and boasts large reception and bar areas and all rooms are en-suite.
Interest in the property is already quite high according to Mr Green.
He added: “We’ve had quite a few calls from people who say they are prepared to bid £100 or £120.
“It should be interesting to see what it goes for, it’s a good way of finding out how much the hotel is actually worth by seeing what people will pay.”
The hotel can be viewed on request and will go under the hammer at Lancashire Cricket Club, Manchester, on May 4.
