MOTORISTS faced traffic chaos when nine horses escaped from a field and onto the road.
Moor Park Avenue in Bispham had to be closed shortly after 7am yesterday after astonished drivers reported seeing the animals crossing the road.
Police closed the busy road at both ends as they contacted the owners of the horses and arranged for them to be rounded up.
They were safely under control and taken back to the field meaning the road was able to reopen at around 9.30am.
An eyewitness said: “It was a strange sight to see the horses being led across Moor Park Avenue.
“The police had closed the road and many drivers were wondering what was going on.
“It was quite busy at that time of day but all the horses looked fine as they were led back.”
