A PENSIONER has lost her fight for life after a horror car crash left her in hospital.
Moira Roberts was a passenger in a car being driven by her husband, John when it collided with an HGV at a busy junction.
The 75-year-old, of Riverside Drive, Hambleton, has spent the last two weeks fighting for her life in Blackpool Victoria Hospital, but died tragically on Saturday night.
Both Mr and Mrs Roberts had to be cut free from their Vauxhall Agila by firefighters following the terrifying smash, which happened at the Windy Harbour crossroads, in Singleton.
Mr Roberts remains in hospital being treated for his injuries sustained during the incident.
Neighbours yesterday described the couple – who are believed to have at least one daughter – as “quiet but friendly”.
One neighbour said Mr and Mrs Roberts had lived in their bungalow for more than 15 years but kept themselves to themselves in the community.
However, on the day of the crash on July 21, those living close to the couple had grown concerned when they failed to return as neighbours said it was unusual for them to be away from home all day.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing and police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, at the junction of Fleetwood Road and Garstang Road, to contact them.
