BLACKPOOL is bracing itself for a week of wet and windy weather.
Yesterday afternoon the resort was lashed by strong winds and rainfall and more is expected later today as the Met Office predicts heavy rain and gusts of up to 50mph later this afternoon.
Experts also predicted gale force winds all along the coast in the North West of the country.
A Met Office spokesman told The Gazette: “The western coast does tend to see strong winds, through the winter in particular.
“It is certainly no stranger to gale-force winds.”
However, a flood warning for the River Wyre, imposed by the Evironment Agency on Saturday, was lifted yesterday.
>> Elsewhere in the country, the Met Office issued yellow warnings for wind in Scotland, where gust are expected to reach 70mph, the South West, Wales and the West Midlands.
