Little Megan Elise Clarke was the first baby of 2014 to make her arrival at Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s maternity unit.
She had been due on Christmas Eve but waited until New Year’s Day to make her appearance.
Megan was born at 1.52am weighing 7lb and 2oz to mum Louise Herring, 38, and dad Stuart Clarke, 46, of St Annes.
Also delighted with the new addition are her sisters Georgia, 20, Rachael, nine, and Emelie, five.
Stuart said: “Megan’s arrival is the best start to 2014 you could ever hope for.
“We knew we were expecting a girl, and with four girls in the family now, I do feel a bit out-numbered.”
Also making his appearance on New Year’s Day was Corey William Edwards-Watts, who was delivered at 5.15am weighing 6lb 12oz.
Corey is the first child for Alison Edwards and her partner Matthew Watts, both 25, who live in South Shore.
Alison said: “We gave him the second name of William after my dad who died in May. It was just after his funeral I found out I was pregnant.
“We are over the moon with him and his arrival is the perfect start to 2014.”
