The family of a Blackpool girl has marked her first birthday by raising money for the Children’s Ward at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Instead of asking for presents for Emily Hambleton, her family asked for money to buy toys, books and arts and crafts materials that can be used for young patients in the future.

Emily, who suffers from cerebral palsy, epilepsy and chronic lung disease, has spent a great deal of her young life in the hospital and mum, Becky Ryan, said she wanted to give something back.

Becky said: “The treatment she has had has been wonderful and we just wanted to do something to pay the staff back for their kindness.

“We asked people for money which we used to buy things for young children to use on the ward and we had a great response and raised about £200 which was fantastic.”
