They weren’t at home to see in the New Year, but that doesn’t mean patients in Blackpool didn’t celebrate 2014.

At Blackpool Victoria Hospital and Spiral Health Care CIC rehabilitation unit in Bispham, patients were able to spent time with their family and loved ones on January 1.

At Spiral Health on Ryscar Way, patients were also treated to special meals throughout the day.

Sister Lesley McKittrich said: “We were full on New Year’s day – all our 40 beds were occupied.

“Our patients had a full cooked breakfast in the morning, a special lunch and a buffet tea.

“We also had a lot of family members in and those patients who were able got to spend some time out with their loved ones.”

Sister Lesley said most of the patients were in bed for the turn of the year, but enjoyed a games afternoon on New Year’s Day.

At Blackpool Vic, orthopaedics patients on ward 34 toasted the new year before bedtime with a cup of tea.
