The Blackpool Stop Smoking Service and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are offering advice and information on local services to mark National No Smoking Day today.

The Stop Smoking Service is hosting a wellness event at the Wilkinson store on Dickson Road from 10.30am until 2pm.

As well as advice, it will offer lung health checks and blood pressure tests.

At at Blackpool Victoria Hospital the Tobacco Liaison Specialist team will be on hand in the new main entrance from 8am to 2pm.

Carol Bramhall, from the Stop Smoking Service, said: “National No Smoking Day throws the spotlight onto smoking and is the perfect opportunity for smokers looking to quit to access our service.

“By hosting the event in the town centre we hope to be able to reach as many people as possible and provide all the information and support they need to make the change and start on their journey to stopping smoking.”

Radio Wave’s Hayley Kay will be there to share her experience of quitting using the service 998 days ago.

She said: “Stopping smoking is one of the best things I’ve ever achieved. If you’re thinking of stopping, give it a go, you’ve got everything to gain and nothing to lose.”
