These plucky ladies aren’t afraid to bare all to raise money with a charity calendar.
They are just four of 12 nurses at Blackpool Vic’s cardiac ICU nurses who posed in the altogether for a calendar they have made to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.
It was the brainchild of Jo Happs, who wanted to do something after losing her cousin to breast cancer in October. She was just 36.
She said: “I got chatting to the girls at work and two of them had lost their mums to breast cancer and another had a relative going through treatment for the disease.
“I think everyone knows someone who’s been affected by cancer, so that’s how it came about.”
Jo, 39, said she got to thinking about how to raise money for the charity, and said she wanted to do something different. “I wanted to get as many people as possible involved in a way that would raise a lot of money,” she said.
Kimberley Tattersall, who also features in the calendar, added: “Cake sales can raise a couple of hundred pounds, but we wanted something on a wider scale.
“Some of the people in the calendar don’t live in Blackpool and their friends and family will buy it to send it out further.”
Work started on putting the calendar together in October, and three photoshoots later with photographer Louise Humphries, it’s complete and ready to be sold.
Jo, of Cromwell Road, North Shore, said: “It wasn’t too hard to get people involved – once one person said yes everyone jumped on the band wagon. We had to turn people down.” Some 250 calanders were made, with 150 sold.
