A Blackpool dental clinic is doing its bit to help raise awareness of mouth cancer.
The illness kills more than 2,000 people every year in the UK. Professional check-ups and regular self-examinations are the best way to pick the condition up – early diagnosis can improve survival chance from just half of cases to more than 90 per cent.
And Ivory Dental Care, on Park Road and Whitegate Drive, is opening its doors to all for a free mouth cancer check for the whole of November. Anyone can come along and receive a professional check-up.
Dentist Ektaa Abrol, from Ivory Dental Care, said: “We are delighted to get involved in Mouth Cancer Action Month in Blackpool.
“It is vital people are aware of the risks and are checked regularly for signs of mouth cancer – early detection saves lives.
“The mouth cancer check is pain-free and will involve a soft tissue check, as well as discussing any concerns the patient may have – such as mouth ulcers which haven’t healed within three weeks, red or white patches or other unusual lumps or swellings in their mouth.”
To book a free mouth cancer check, call (01253) 392685. Donations to Mouth Cancer Action Month welcome.
