An auntie who has been touched by the work of Blackpool Victoria Hospital’s neonatal unit three times has raised hundreds of pounds for the unit.

Paula Lynn, 36, has raised £330 at her workplace, One Stop on Lord Street, Fleetwood, to donate to the unit which cared for her three nieces.

She organised a raffle and fancy dress day in work to raise money for Blue Skies Hospitals Fund – the charity behind Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

She said: “I wanted to raise money in thanks for all the staff did for my family.”

Paula’s niece Courtney McAlpine-Bastin was born at Blackpool Victoria Hospital three months early. Now 12, she is fighting fit.

Courtney’s sisters Paige, six, and Brooke, five, were also treated on the Unit.

Paige was born with cerebral palsy, and Brooke contracted meningitis which resulted in her having to have her leg amputated below the knee.

Paula added: “I wouldn’t have been able to raise this money if it wasn’t for all the staff and all the customers who donated.”
