Award-winning singer-songwriter Hazel O’Connor (pictured, left) makes her Fleetwood debut tonight at the Marine Hall.
Together with her accomplished fellow performers in the Bluja Project – virtuoso saxophonist Clare Hirst (from The Bellestars, The Communards and David Bowie) and pianist and vocalist Sarah Fisher (Eurythmics and Sax in the City) – are in town as part of their Blondes on Fire spring tour.
Performing an eclectic mix of brand new O’Connor originals and timeless classics, the torch song trio will deliver a blend of voices and a touch of class to their performance.
Striding into the spotlight with cult film Breaking Glass, Hazel immediately became an iconic figure. Here live and on stage, her popular songs from the soundtrack – Eighth Day, Will You and Big Brother – seem just as relevant in our present times.
Relive some of the songs and be entertained by her moving stories and Bluja’s unique take on ageless standards, alongside brand new material.
Hazel O’Connor is no stranger to the live scene, from her early tours in the 80s to her more recently critically-acclaimed partnership with harpist Cormac De Barra to her autobiographical theatre show Beyond Breaking Glass, her 30th Anniversary year Breaking Glass Live tour and her charity single Re-Joyce. This line-up of talent recently launched their debut album, and completed a series of sell-out shows in France and the UK last year. They are currently working on their new album.
