IT was all smiles for the winners of The Gazette and Houndshill Shopping Centre Face 2012 competition, when they were handed their fantastic prizes.

Kendall Rae Knight, of Newton and Sean Maloney, of Blackpool, were crowned the winners of the annual contest, which seeks to find someone with the looks, personality and style to represent the Houndshill – Blackpool’s number one shopping centre.

They impressed the judges when they strutted their stuff on the catwalk in the grand final, last month and have now been presented with £500 of prizes - including vouchers for a shopping spree at the Houndshill.

Kendall, 20, a sales assistant, had also recently finished second place in the Miss Blackpool beauty contest.

She was delighted to win The Face, which she decided to enter after seeing the competition advertised in The Gazette.

She said: “When they called out my name to say I had won, I couldn’t believe it.

“I didn’t expect to even get through to the final.

“It’s been a great experience.”

Sean, 19, a student, said he entered the competition after his mum encouraged him to take part.

Sean has acting and performance experience, but modelling is something new.

He said: “I really didn’t expect to win, it was a shock, but a good one. And it’s boosted my self-confidence.

“I’m really glad I entered the competition now.”

Both Kendall and Sean will be starring in their own fashion shoot with The Gazette - look out for pictures soon.
