A pensioner has told of her joy after pioneering surgery allowed her to eat for the first time in six months.
Mary Evans, 83, was told it was unlikely she would ever be able to enjoy food normally again after suffering a blockage in her throat.
For months she could not eat or drink and had to be fed through a tube in her stomach and her weight fell to just six stones. But after an operation this week, Mrs Evans, is looking forward to eating a normal diet.
Her ordeal began when she awoke one morning earlier this year to discover she could not swallow.
