PLAY-OFF fever has taken over Blackpool – and even the zoo’s animals are caught up in the excitement.

Blackpool-born orangutan Summer is the Seasiders’ newest fan after she happily donned a Blackpool FC shirt to show her support ahead of Saturday’s play-off final.

The loveable orangutan was delighted when zoo keepers threw the Pool shirt – donated by the club – into her enclosure, and zoo spokeswoman Jude Rothwell said: “If you throw clothes to orangutans they will put them on – although this was a bit of a disaster at first because we threw the shirt in the moat.

“The football club very kindly donated a 5XL-size shirt to us for the orangutans because the animals are such big fans of the football club.

“Summer, along with her mum Vicky, is a sandgrown’un and she was over the moon with the shirt.

“Everyone at the zoo is definitely behind the club for Saturday.”
