Local business people, community figures and celebrities were among those attending a glittering event at the Grand Theatre.

The evening took place to mark the launch of the Church Street venue’s autumn/winter programme.

Guests attending the “very special event” were able to enjoy drinks as they became the first to hear about the theatre’s shows for the coming months.

The highlight of the autumn/winter calendar, as always, will be the theatre’s festive panto, which this year will be rags-to-riches fairytale Cinderella.

This year’s programme aims to offer something for everyone, of all ages.

September’s shows include Shirley Valentine, Chicago Blues Brothers and Purple Rain: A Celebration of Prince.

Among October’s offerings will be Ruth Rendell’s A Judgement In Stone, Stomp and for the youngsters, The Tiger Who Came For Tea.

Ballet fans will be spoiled for choice in January, with Snow Maiden, The Nutcracker and Swan Lake all being performed.

There are chances to have a laugh too with comedians including Jason Manford and Milton Jones taking to the Grand stage in early 2018.
