Fylde Citizens Advice, boosted by the extension of its premises earlier this year, is looking for new recruits.
Along with new volunteers to man advice lines, officials say they would also welcome fresh candidates for the management committee.
The bureau, based in Kirkham but serving the whole of Fylde, handled more than 3,000 inquiries last year and has operated from extended premises since April.
It dealt with more than £9m worth of debt and helped local people access more than £1m worth of benefits and other entitlements during 2015.
But chief executive Kim Cook described that as ‘just the tip of the iceberg’ and the bureau had long been at capacity before taking over the whole of its base in Moor Street, after previously occupying just the first floor.
A fresh dedicated telephone advice service was installed, which Kim said quickly made a difference to the ease with which callers could get through.
The service had 26 volunteers at the time of the expansion, when Kim made clear the aim of adding significantly to that number over the coming months.
Kim said: “Fylde CAB has been serving the local public since 1968 but for some time, we knew that, due to limited space, we could not recruit and train sufficient volunteers to meet the demand for our services.
“Following our relaunch and expansion, a recruitment campaign for volunteers is under way and we are looking for advice line volunteers to help people in the local community while being part of a lively and enthusiastic team.
“If anyone would rather be part of the management committee, we are also looking for people with strategic vision, independent judgement and a willingness to give time and commitment to being a trustee.
“We are particularly looking for someone with experience in finance, employment or publicity and PR. We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse board of trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community.”
