A GALAXY of stars will descend on Blackpool today as Britain’s Got Talent auditions explode into life at the Opera House.

Simon Cowell makes an eagerly awaited return to the resort as entertainers from right across the Fylde coast showcase their skills for the ITV talent show.

And with a new panel of judges on hand to help him decide the fate of the performers, Winter Gardens staff rolled out the red carpet.

Along with new panelists comedian David Walliams and Strictly Come Dancing’s Alesha Dixon.

Amanda Holden was supposed to make the trip but the heavily pregnant celebrity was detained in hospital overnight for observation.

The Opera House has been a hive of activity as production teams moved in yesterday to set up the massive stage.

David Gore, manager of the Winter Gardens said: “We are delighted to have Britain’s Got Talent back again and look forward to showing off what the theatre and Blackpool has to offer.

“We hosted the Royal Variety Performance in 2009, other TV productions have been recorded in Blackpool recently and now this, it’s a big vote of confidence in the town’s entertainment industry and venues.”
