It was a tough decision, but The Gazette can reveal the groups shortlisted to benefit in our £25,000 Community Giveaway.

More than 80 organisations entered into the giveaway, sponsored by Swallowdale Children’s Trust, so the judging panel had a hard time deciding on the successful applications.

Thirteen groups have now been shortlisted and will attend a ceremony at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool on June 12 where the £25,000 will be handed out.

A number of individual applicants will also receive funding made available by the Swallowdale Trust.

Swallowdale’s chairman, Nigel Law, said: “This campaign has been remarkably successful, and we have been overwhelmed by the number of group applications.

“We certainly didn’t realise there were so many deserving groups and organisations on the Fylde coast.”

Gazette Editor Jon Rhodes added: “There were so many organisations and causes which really touched our hearts and we have tried to help as many as we could.

“I want to thank the trustees of Swallowdale for their generosity which will undoubtedly make a huge difference to so many people.

“We cannot wait for June 12 when the money will be presented. I then look forward to seeing the positive impact it has over the coming weeks, months and years.”
