A DISGRACED Fylde woman has received a 20-week suspended sentence for stealing from bereaved customers at the funeral home where she worked.

Fiona Threlfall, 41, of Meadow Way, Wesham, admitted numerous counts of theft.

Customers at the Co-operative Funeral Home, Bispham Road, Blackpool, were billed for payments they had already made to Threlfall.

Investigations revealed Threlfall, an administrator, had taken the money to line her own pockets.

She was sentenced to a 20 week sentence, suspended for 12 months, with 12 months supervision at Preston Crown Court yesterday.

A spokesman for The Co-operative Funeral care, said: “It is deeply regrettable the actions of this person led to it being necessary to involve the families concerned in this public investigation in a court of law, however we’re pleased with the sentenced she has received.”
