A garage boss is still appealing for the return of a valuable piece of equipment that was stolen by thieves.

A rare “one-off” air gun, used for taking nuts off car wheels, was among the items taken from Holden’s Garage, on Kingsland Grove, last month.

Detectives believe the thieves broke in through the roof before smashing CCTV cameras and stealing valuable equipment.

Among the items, valued at a total of £20,000, was a black and yellow Snap-on windy gun that had been given to garage boss Steve Holden by a friend shortly before he died.

He added: “I’m still appealing for it – it has not been returned.”

He said it was impossible to replace the item like-for-like and a similar replacement would cost £1,000.

The unused air gun was a gift from a close friend who died in 1995.

Police say the incident took place between 6pm on January 20 and 8am the next day. Call 101 with information.
