Footballers at Blackpool FC are bringing smiles to the faces of fans this Christmas.
The town’s footballers are taking part in a 24-day comedy ‘series’ to celebrate every day of advent until Christmas Eve.
In short videos posted daily to the football club’s You Tube account, players take part in quizzes and games, as well as meet-ups with young Blackpool FC fans.
Yesterday’s video saw defender Clark Robertson and midfielder Bright Osayi-Samuel take on the drawing challenge, where they put their artistic skills to the test as they attempted to draw the Grinch, Rudolph... and fellow footballer Henry Cameron.
Meanwhile, in Thursday’s video, defender Tom Aldred and striker Mark Cullen discussed the less-than-flattering Christmas gifts they would get for their fellow players - including ‘a hairline’ for goalkeeper Sam Slocombe and ‘a car parking space’ for striker Kyle Vassell.
Mark said: “He just parks anywhere. It’s just like it’s a small car either, he just parks it anywhere. Just abandons ship!”
The team also paid a visit to youngsters at Blackpool Victoria Hospital and Brian House Hospice to spread a touch of Christmas cheer. Mark said: “It’s sad to think these kids are in here with bad illnesses, but to be able to come here and learn about their situations and the treatment they get here, it’s an eye-opener.
“It’s always good to come and try to make the kids a bit happier.
“It’s fantastic the work they do here. The amount of volunteers and the money they raise, it’s a credit to them because it’s outstanding stuff.”
A Blackpool FC spokesman said: “The advent calendar videos are always popular with supporters and help showcase the players’ personalities away from the pitch and the camaraderie and team spirit within the dressing room.
“Quizzes, impressions, wrapping challenges and community visits have all featured in the countdown to Christmas, with plenty more to come in the days ahead.”
