Fylde coast footballers were picture perfect for a poignant football commemoration last weekend.
Junior teams across the coast took part in the Football Remembers project, remembering the Christmas Truce of 1914.
The British Council, FA, Football League and Premier League all backed this mass-participation event marking the centenary of one of the First World War’s most moving stories.
On Christmas Day 1914, warring armies on the battlefields of Europe not only held a short-lived ceasefire, but even emerged from the trenches to play football matches in ‘no man’s land’.
Football Remembers was devised as a tribute, with teams across the country invited to pose for a photograph before matches over the past week as a mark of respect, then post the snaps on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #footballremembers.
The pictures have been collated for the website www.footballremembers.com and can be viewed now.
Here’s a selection of pictures taken at Fylde coast fixtures last weekend, including the one from Bloomfield Road as Blackpool faced Birmingham.
