A huge food and drink festival will be hosted in Fleetwood during the height of the summer season, adding to a growing list of major events in the town.

The Marine Hall show, on August 18, will feature the best produce from around the Fylde coast being promoted and sold during the day.

Events aimed at families are also included, with the likes of local juggling star Thomas Bounce from Britain’s Got Talent set to perform.

Margaret Daniels, chairman of Fleetwood Civic Society, said: “Anything held at the Marine Hall is going to be advertised widely and help Fleetwood.

“It would be good if it could be an annual event and I wish it every success.

“It needs more and more things because something like this helps the town.”

The new festival is part of a bumper summer of events for Fleetwood.

On July 21, the town will come to a standstill and thousands of people are expected to visit as the traditional Tram Sunday takes place.

A spokesman for Wyre Council said: “We are really excited about this new venture for Marine Hall and are hoping for a great turnout.

“Despite this being a brand new event we’ve had lots of interest from extremely well established suppliers from across the region and are confident we will be able to provide a brilliant variety of stalls for people to enjoy.

“We’re also putting together a great line up of activities for children, including Britain’s Got Talent’s very own Thomas Bounce who will showing off his juggling skills and hosting kids circus workshops all day.

“There’s still space available so if you are a food or drink producer it’s not too late to get in touch.

“We will be announcing our full line up of exhibitors soon so watch this space.”

Coun Alan Marsh, chairman of Fleetwood Town Council (pictured), added: “Something like this can bring in tourists and we need more of this because we need to regenerate the town.

“We need something every month or every fortnight to show what Fleetwood has to offer.”
