Strong winds have prompted the Environment Agency to issue a flood alert for the Fylde coast.

With storms set to batter the area during the evening, low-lying areas could see localised flooding.

The alert covers the entire stretch of coast from Blackpool to Fleetwood.

The Environment Agency flood alert, issued at 4.25pm, said: “Strong winds will cause tide levels to rise and waves to overtop and spill onto the promenade at high tide on Saturday evening. This may lead to localised flooding.”
