Hundreds of young pupils, teachers and family members came together on the pitch at Bloomfield Road to celebrate Blackpool’s first Fit2Go Festival.
Fit2Go is an innovative health project, part of Altogether Now – a legacy for Blackpool, the ground-breaking initiative being delivered by NHS Blackpool, Blackpool Council and Blackpool FC.
The aim of Altogether Now is to support every person in Blackpool – irrespective of age, gender, race or ability – in the challenge to improve health and lifestyle.
Funded by NHS Blackpool and the Premier League / Professional Footballers Association Community Fund, and delivered by Blackpool FC Community Trust, Fit2Go involves a range of activities in school and community settings for young people and their families.
The Fit2Go Festival brought together 344 year 4 pupils from the six schools that have completed the healthy lifestyle programme during its first year.
Revoe, St Kentigerns, Mereside, Anchorsholme, Devonshire and Hawes Side Primary Schools took part in football and handball tournaments on the pitch throughout the day, cheered on by family members.
