A man broke both his ankles when he plunged 15ft from the top of a cliff.

The 47-year-old was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital after he was rescued by 15 firefighters opposite Uncle Tom’s Cabin, in North Shore, at 3.20pm today.

An aerial ladder platform from Blackpool fire station was used to reach the man, whose fall was broken by a ledge halfway down.

Rescuers spent 45 minutes at the scene as they put the man on to a long board and then into the ladder’s cage to lower him on to level ground.
