A bin fire in central Blackpool had to be extinguished by firefighters last night.

One fire appliance was called out to the fire in an alleyway at Belmont Avenue, off Central Drive, at 7.52pm.

Watch manager Warren Tapp said: “One hose reel was used to put it out.”

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service warn that such incidents could divert resources away from genuine emergencies.
