Firefighters battle blaze at industrial skips in Poulton

Firefighters used an aerial ladder to battle a blaze in Poulton overnight.

The platform allowed four crews to tackle the fire at skip units at Poulton Industrial Estate.

“Three very large industrial skip units were well alight,” said watch manager Warren Topp of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service in Blackpool.

“The concern was that the fire was going to spread to a processing building nearby.

“We had to attack it from above using an aerial ladder platform.”

Fire engines were called to the scene in Aldon Road at 2.30am and extinguished the blaze by 6.30am.

They were able to prevent it from spreading to the processing unit.

“The cause of the fire is still unknown,” said Mr Topp. “But it is the second fire that has been in the same place and we need to determine what’s going on.”
