Firefighters were called to an early morning blaze at a Blackpool guest house today.

The incident started around 3am on Central Drive at a block of three derelict guest houses.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “The first and second floors of the middle property were on fire.

“Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform and crews dealt with the incident, while 10 firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hosereels and two water jets to extinguish the fire. Two extension ladders were used for access and portable ventilation fans to extract smoke and heat.”

No casualties were reported.

A police cordon has now been set up around the property.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We were called at 4.15am.

“The fire service believe the fire was suspicious so officers will be investigating today.”
