A police and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation into how the fall happened is now underway.

Today his brother described how the 39-year-old Fleetwood dad’s death had left the family devastated.

Kevin Gray - who issued a statement on behalf of his brother’s partner and family - said: “Craig was a very loving family man who worshipped his children.

“He will be very deeply missed by all the family. We would like to thank all the emergency services who attended as well as all the hospital staff who helped Craig.”

The tragedy happened at around 12.30pm on Thursday.

Mr Gray – a contractor working at the site – received serious injuries in the fall and the North West Air Ambulance were called to the scene to transport him to hospital as quickly as possible.

A police and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation into the incident has now been launched, and HTI said it was working with investigators to find out what happened.

A spokesman for the company, which also has offices in Hong Kong, China and Germany, added: “We are continuing to fully co-operate with the authorities to help them with their investigation into the incident at our warehouse yesterday.

The investigation is being led by Lancashire Police, and detective inspector Colin Forsyth said: “This is a tragic incident resulting in a man losing his life.

“The investigation is still at its early stages and we are working closely with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the full circumstances.”

And a spokesman for the HSE added: “We were contacted about an incident where a man doing some work on a factory in Fleetwood has fallen through a skylight at around 12.30pm on Thursday.

“The police and the Health and Safety Executive are running a joint investigation into the incident which is being led by Lancashire Police at this time.”
