A WESHAM woman has died suddenly, less than a year after undergoing a heart transplant.
Lauren Dixon, 22, who lived at the Stanley Arms Pub with mum and stepdad Denise and Martin Molloy, died following a routine biopsy at Wythenshaw Hospital.
Denise said: “It has all been such a shock.
“When Lauren had her heart attack we thought we had got through the hardest bit.
“She was doing so brilliantly, we never expected her to be suddenly taken away from us.”
At the age of 19, Lauren, above, collapsed and suffered a heart attack and it was discovered she suffered from diomyopathy, a deterioration of the heart muscle. She suffered more attacks before having a pacemaker fitted, and then had an emergency heart transplant on July 31 last year at Wythenshaw.
Stepdad of 17 years Martin said: “Lauren was doing really well and everything appeared to be fine.
“But a few weeks before her death she had been feeling unwell.”
Lauren also leaves younger sister Michelle, 20. The funeral was held on June 6 at St Joseph’s Church.
