THE family of murdered Blackpool nurse Jane Clough is asking Blackpool residents to show their support by signing an on-line petition.
John and Penny Clough, from Barrowford, want to see the law changed to give the prosecution a right to appeal if a judge bails an offender.
Their 26-year-old daughter was stabbed to death outside Blackpool Victoria Hospital by her former partner Jonathan Vass while he was out on bail for rape charges. Vass had been charged with nine counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault against the nurse when he killed her in July last year.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson is supporting the family and in June presented a 10-minute rule bill to recommend an amendment to the Bail Bill.
Now Jane’s family hope people will sign an on-line petition to support the bail amendment bill.
Mr Clough said: “We’ve had 1,771 signatures already, but every bit of support is appreciated.”
