The Blackpool and Fylde Land Rovers Club will roll into town next month on March 1 at the Blackpool Cricket Club on West Park Drive at 7.30pm.

Poulton Land Rover fan Mark Neath, 28, is one of the driving forces behind the new club.

He said: “Land Rovers have a massive following and there’s a huge fanbase.

“There’s a great sense of community between owners.

“The things that a Land Rover can do is more than any other vehicle. If you look at the things people can do with them, it’s unbelievable. It’s a very versatile vehicle.”

The club aims to organise a number of on-the-road events, such as green laning - road trips down little-known countryside lanes that would be impossible to tackle in a normal family car.

Group camping trips, Land Rover shows and monthly meeting plans are also in the works.

Mark, who works as a gardener, said: “We have already got 25 people who are interested and we want to get the word out there so we can drum up more interest and make the club successful.

“The nearest other Land Rover club is based in Lancaster. We’re trying to take a different approach to it and make it a family-focused club for people of all ages and driving abilities.

“If a bloke has a Land Rover and he has a wife or kids they will be able to come along and take part too.”
