A POLICE memorial service on Sunday will remember two officers gunned down in Manchester last month.
For the past eight years, a Police Memorial Service has been held at the United Reformed Church, Fleetwood.
The service is for officers in the Northern and Western divisions of Lancashire Police.
But this time there will be a special tribute to PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes who died in Manchester.
Church leader at the URC Tom Birch said: “The service is usually well attended but this year I think we will have an unusually large congregation because of what happened in Manchester.
“The recent deaths have underlined just why we hold these services and the debt we owe to our police services.”
The service will begin at 10.45am on Sunday and will be attended by representatives of Wyre Council, Lancashire Police Authority and the National Association of Retired Police Officers.
The day remembers officers who have died while on duty and a national service is held, this year at York Minster.
