Failing car salesman turns to drug peddling
Blackpool Magistrates Court
A MAN told police he turned to drug dealing because his car-selling business was not doing well.
Forty bags of mephedrone – known as “bubble” – and of cannabis were found at Travis Hilton’s home when police carried out a drugs raid there.
Hilton, 64, of Langdale Road, Mereside, pleaded guilty to possessing methoxetamine and cannabis with intent to supply the drugs.
Martine Connah, prosecuting, said how on December 20, at 5.30pm, police executed a search warrant at Hilton’s home.
Six snap bags of cannabis were found in a coat pocket and 32 bags of bubble in a safe on the landing.
Ms Connah added: “He told police his business selling cars was slow and that is why he was selling drugs. He said it was the first time he had done any dealing.”
David Charnley, defending, said his client had no previous convictions for drug offences.
He was bailed to appear for sentence at Preston Crown Court on March 29 by Blackpool magistrates.
